David (Beckler) Sidewalktango is widely recognised as one of the co-founders of the Australian tango revolution. With a musical journey that spans from vinyl and cassettes to CDs, hard drives and today’s digital streaming era, David brings decades of experience and a deep love of authentic dance music to every event he plays.

A passionate storyteller through music, he thrives on seeing a full dancefloor respond to the rhythm, mood, mystery and emotion woven into each tanda. While firmly grounded in the classics — D’Arienzo, Di Sarli, Pugliese — David also delights dancers with the rich sounds of Tanturi, Laurenz, Demare, Canaro, and many other orchestras that define the golden age of tango.

Highlights & Milonga History

  • Founder and resident DJ of the iconic Tango Bar milonga in Wellington, NZ (1994–2014)
  • Resident DJ for various Melbourne milongas in St Kilda, Prahran and Richmond (1998–2017)
  • Current DJ for La Milonguita, Hobart (2022–present)
  • Guest DJ at Tango Spirit, Haberfield — October 2024

Maxi & Ayse Workshop Fees

Workshop Pricing per person:

  • 1 workshop: $60
  • 2 workshops: $110 ($55 per workshop)
  • 3 workshops: $150 ($50 per workshop)
  • 4 workshops: $180 ($45 per workshop)
  • 5 workshops: $200 ($40 per workshop)
  • 6 workshops: $210 ($35 per workshop)

Maxi & Ayse Private Lesson Fees

One Teacher (either Maxi or Ayse)

  •  One lesson per one student/couple: AUD185 
  • Three lesson package per one student/couple: AUD475
Additional fees also charged for hiring any dance venue (estimated at around AUD25-AUD30 per hour).

Two Teachers (Maxi & Ayse)

  •  One lesson per one student/couple: AUD300 
  • Three lesson package per one student/couple: AUD800
